1. The challenge will run from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012. Books must be read during this time-frame to count.

2. You can join the challenge at any time! All books read in 2012 count for the challenge, regardless of when you sign up.

3. This challenge can cross-over to your other reading challenges.

4. You do not need a blog to participate! If you are not a blogger, you can post your reviews at Goodreads, Shelfari, or LibraryThing and link them up here.

5. All formats of books are acceptable: Bound copies, e-books, and audiobooks (as long as they are unabridged).

6. There are four levels for the challenge:

a. Level 1: Read 1-4 books in the series.
b. Level 2: Read 5-8 books in the series.
c. Level 3: Read 9-11 books in the series.
d. Level 4: Read all 12 books in the series!

7. When you write your sign-up post, you must choose your level. You can go up but you cannot go down!

8. There will be link-ups for your reviews on a quarterly basis, which will be posted on THIS page.

9. There will be a link for your wrap-up post at the end of the year. Anyone who completes their challenge will be eligible to win the giveaway!

The books in the Sookie Stackhouse (aka Southern Vampires) series by Charlaine Harris are:

Dead Until Dark (Book #1)
Living Dead in Dallas (Book #2)
Club Dead (Book #3)
Dead to the World (Book #4)
Dead as a Doornail (Book #5)
Definitely Dead (Book #6)
All Together Dead (Book #7)
From Dead to Worse (Book #8)
Dead and Gone (Book #9)
Dead in the Family (Book #10)
Dead Reckoning (Book #11)
Deadlocked (Book #12) - expected publication: May 1, 2012

I have been meaning to get started reading these for years and I already own most of them.  What I like about the way Darlene is hosting is that there are levels so you don't have to read the whole series.  I'm going to sign-up for Level 1: 1-4 books.  I have the omnibus edition with the first three books, but I don't like to read series books one right after another so...according to how I feel at the time, I will either read just the first book or the first three.

  1. Hi, Michelle! I just wanted to welcome you to the Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge! I'm thrilled to have you join me and look forward to seeing your reviews! Have fun!!

  2. WOW you have quite a list here!! Good for you!! I really wanted to join the Telling Tales Challenge but I am not sure what books to read so I haven't joined the challenge....any suggestions? I also see you are in the Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge....I LOVE LOVE LOVE those books!! Have you seen the HBO series?? I am TOTALLY addicted to that series :) Happy reading to you and good luck!!

  3. Suggestions for The Telling Tales challenge, let me see...there are several retellings by Gregory Maguire, author of Wicked (and I think the Wicked series could be included). Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister and Mirror, Mirror. There are some retellings by Robin McKinley...Beauty and Spindle's End. Also, The Fairy Godmother by Mercedes Lackey. I haven't read any of these, but I'm planning on reading a few of them for the challenge.

And yes, I love the HBO series, but this will be my first read of the books.

Thank you for your comments. They are much appreciated!
